Work environment Efficiency Affected Every work environment makes them work set of accepted rules in which the representatives must follow to keep up productivity in the association. The issue of a higher proportion on work turnover influences the proficiency of the working environment by meddling with how representatives submit to the set of accepted rules present in their activity regions. The second a lodging has new specialists utilized after a brief period, it turns out to be difficult to keep all the laborers working completely as per the standards of the firm. This effects the effectiveness of the laborers out an d out as certain representatives would wind up neglecting to arrive at the norms they are set by the inn the executives. A great deal of Resources Required Labor turnover pushes the lodgings to begin the vast majority of their representative obtaining forms which require a ton of assets. The organizations put numerous assets and use a great deal of cash in this procedure beginning with ads that illuminate on openings for work to the last phase of preparing the new representatives. When an inn has new specialists at the administration level and the subordinate staffs, more assets must be spent on them. For example, the servers and servers would require garbs while the new directors would require writing material. MxPx is a Christian pop-punk band. Pop punk essentially implies upbeat punk. The musicians, are Mike Herrera who plays bass and sings, Tom Wisniewski who plays guitar and Yuri Ruley plays drums. They played around 10 tunes, all of which I knew. A portion of their melodies have to do with society issues through the eyes of a young person. At the show, the principal melody they played was one of my top choices, Teenage Politics. A portion of the verses to this melody are, No Im not frantic but rather I think they overlook what its like and that it is so difficult to be a young person. This is another day and age, we read an alternate book where Elvis aint the wrath and polyester aint the look. Is it time again to differ about anything, everything and whats on TV its an endless loop, endless a direct condition common expanding. No, Ill never resemble you; Ill never resemble you. Gee golly! Im simply like you!The second melody they played was Im the Bad Guy. The primary couple lines of state, Legalistic individuals suck. Legalism makes me wiped out. Despite the fact that they straightforwardly bust on legalism, they likewise realize the world has nothing to offer them except for hurt and agony, while God is the main answer. Since they are a Christian punk band, obviously they need to play strict melodies. One great melody that they played there was False Fiction. This melody fundamentally implies that the world is experiencing such unrest since we dont have Christ in our lives. They ensure our opportunity yet opportunity isnt genuine except if you know Christ you wont know how I feel. Emphases of the status quo expected to be the psychological issue of our societymaybe this world had quit thinking perhaps the entirety of their brains are contracting you bombed framework is including disarray, its confusion, its your loss.In Like sand through the hourglassso are the times of our lives, they state, My reality is separating around me. I see my demolished world before me. Any and all that I believed, I sob for my reality sickened. Will I look to you? Jesus, yes I do!Not just did they play tunes about Christ and society, they additionally played melodies about affection. The fifth tune they sang was Do you f eet hurt. This tune is about adoration and perusing sonnets to his better half through her window. A couple of the verses are, Can I see you after you escape school? I wont even mind it, in the event that you treat me brutal. Take a ride on my Vespa, Ill take you home. Sick move up to your window and read you a poem. Finally, the 6th melody they played was Andrea. I truly cant say much regarding this tune. Its only a quick paced love tune. My preferred verses of the tune are Andrea, I state your name and all that I can do is consider the manner in which you grinned and kinda sorta held my hand. Went out for espresso in what more likely than not been the littlest town in Kentucky. Andrea, we strolled together down soil street by the scaffold then we sat by one another and discussed a couple of things. You took a gander at me I took a gander at you before you know its opportunity to go.All of their melodies are quick paced. They all have substantial drumbeats. Truth be told, every sing le punk band have this particular sort of speedy and rehashed drumbeat. That is the manner by which you can tell on the off chance that they are punk or not. MxPx additionally has an exceptionally unmistakable bass line. In the tune Andrea other than the verses their bass line is noteworthy. .u75672a750f8c2310be57ab0b8408d175 , .u75672a750f8c2310be57ab0b8408d175 .postImageUrl , .u75672a750f8c2310be57ab0b8408d175 .focused content zone { min-tallness: 80px; position: relative; } .u75672a750f8c2310be57ab0b8408d175 , .u75672a750f8c2310be57ab0b8408d175:hover , .u75672a750f8c2310be57ab0b8408d175:visited , .u75672a750f8c2310be57ab0b8408d175:active { border:0!important; } .u75672a750f8c2310be57ab0b8408d175 .clearfix:after { content: ; show: table; clear: both; } .u75672a750f8c2310be57ab0b8408d175 { show: square; progress: foundation shading 250ms; webkit-change: foundation shading 250ms; width: 100%; haziness: 1; progress: murkiness 250ms; webkit-change: obscurity 250ms; foundation shading: #95A5A6; } .u75672a750f8c2310be57ab0b8408d175:active , .u75672a750f8c2310be57ab0b8408d175:hover { mistiness: 1; progress: darkness 250ms; webkit-progress: mistiness 250ms; foundation shading: #2C3E50; } .u75672a750f8c2310be57ab0b8408d175 .focused content region { width: 100%; position: relati ve; } .u75672a750f8c2310be57ab0b8408d175 .ctaText { outskirt base: 0 strong #fff; shading: #2980B9; text dimension: 16px; textual style weight: striking; edge: 0; cushioning: 0; content enrichment: underline; } .u75672a750f8c2310be57ab0b8408d175 .postTitle { shading: #FFFFFF; text dimension: 16px; textual style weight: 600; edge: 0; cushioning: 0; width: 100%; } .u75672a750f8c2310be57ab0b8408d175 .ctaButton { foundation shading: #7F8C8D!important; shading: #2980B9; fringe: none; fringe span: 3px; box-shadow: none; text dimension: 14px; text style weight: intense; line-stature: 26px; moz-fringe range: 3px; content adjust: focus; content design: none; content shadow: none; width: 80px; min-stature: 80px; foundation: url(https://artscolumbia.org/wp-content/modules/intelly-related-posts/resources/pictures/straightforward arrow.png)no-rehash; position: total; right: 0; top: 0; } .u75672a750f8c2310be57ab0b8408d175:hover .ctaButton { foundation shading: #34495E!important; } .u75672a750f8c2 310be57ab0b8408d175 .focused content { show: table; tallness: 80px; cushioning left: 18px; top: 0; } .u75672a750f8c2310be57ab0b8408d175-content { show: table-cell; edge: 0; cushioning: 0; cushioning right: 108px; position: relative; vertical-adjust: center; width: 100%; } .u75672a750f8c2310be57ab0b8408d175:after { content: ; show: square; clear: both; } READ: The Effects of Stress, Alcohol Outcome Expectancies, Gender, Coping St EssayThere is a stacking aiding of melodies about ordinary youthful male concerns. This is my first blog post with Cambridge Coaching and I thought that I would begin by writing about what philosophy is from the perspective of responding to people who want to know what I do. Here is a schematic representation of conversations I am often involved in: Typical Question: ââ¬Å"What do you study?â⬠Me: ââ¬Å"Philosophyâ⬠Some typical follow-ups: ââ¬Å"Which philosopher do you follow?â⬠Or ââ¬Å"Who is your favorite philosopher?â⬠ââ¬Å"Oh!? What is your philosophy?â⬠ââ¬Å"So whatââ¬â¢s the meaning of life?â⬠ââ¬Å"Oh. What can you do with THAT?!â⬠Behind these responses are some interesting assumptions about who philosophers are and what they do. While some of those assumptions may be true about some philosophers at some times in history, most are false about the average person who studies and teaches philosophy in an academic program today. On the one hand, philosophers do tend to be interested in the most fundamental questions about the world and our place in it. But philosophy today is an academic discipline like many others with its own culture, norms, history, and traditions that aspiring philosophers must be engaged with. Let me give a sense for what philosophy is like today by responding to the questions above: 1. ââ¬Å"Which philosopher do you follow?â⬠or ââ¬Å"Who is your favorite philosopher?â⬠Academic philosophy is not just a glorified fan club for philosophers of yore. Many of us want to be our own philosophers and think about and come up with our own answers to philosophical problems! Next, a commitment to oneââ¬â¢s own independent use of reason is one of the most highly valued standards of contemporary philosophy. Even if we do have a (or a few) favored philosopher(s), we do not tend to uncritically follow them. Rather, what we aspire to is critical engagement with their work, trying to understand it, provide independent argument for why one philosopher is closer to the truth than another, and so on. If anything, one usually likes a philosopher because she or he has found that philosopher most useful in assisting oneââ¬â¢s own quest to exercise her or his own faculties of reasoning in understanding the world. 2. ââ¬Å"Oh What is your philosophy?â⬠While philosophers today do want to come up with their own answers to philosophical questions, or new and better arguments for traditional answers, they tend to focus on smaller, more manageable problems rather than constructing comprehensive ââ¬Å"philosophiesâ⬠. Philosophy tends toward specialization today, like most academic disciplines. There is so much good work on so many different topics out there, it has become impossible to master it all. To make progress in academic philosophy one must specialize and work piecemeal on small problems (even if they are interpretive problems concerning grand philosophers of the past). It is the rare genius that constructs comprehensive philosophical systems these days (perhaps the best, most recent example is David Lewis). That doesnââ¬â¢t mean that philosophers donââ¬â¢t still aspire to such systems in their heart of hearts. But youââ¬â¢ll have more luck asking the above question of someone closer to the end of their career tha n the start. This is not to say that most philosophers have not reflected on many (or most) of the fundamental philosophical questions. But there is a certain intellectual humility that often comes, and always ought to come, with sustained exposure to the many philosophical systems of the past. Such humility cautions against comprehensive theorizing prior to sustained effort trying oneââ¬â¢s mettle out on a few particular problems. So what kind of problems do philosophers work on today? This brings me to another oft-asked question: 3. ââ¬Å"So whatââ¬â¢s the meaning of life?â⬠If you ask a ââ¬Å"bigâ⬠question like this one and get a simple, straightforward answer, you are most likely dealing either with a sarcastic philosopher or an impostor. If anything, a philosopher is likely to be suspicious that the form of words above succeed in asking one clear, meaningful question for which we could easily recognize a satisfactory answer. What is meant by ââ¬Å"lifeâ⬠? ââ¬Å"Meaningâ⬠? (Can a human life, for instance, have a ââ¬Å"meaningâ⬠in the same way that a word can have a ââ¬Å"meaningâ⬠?). Must there be a single, unique ââ¬Å"meaning of lifeâ⬠that the definite article ââ¬Å"theâ⬠seems to imply? And once one starts down the road of clarifying the question, it becomes much longer than one might have initially suspected. Eliding details in the interest of space, further questions down this particular road will include: can there be purpose independent of the intentions of an intelligent being? How, if at all, would we recognize such purpose? What is it about an intelligent being that makes intention and purpose possible? Can the life of a Robinson Crusoe have the same significance as a life lived in society with other humans? And thatââ¬â¢s just for starters. The same process reiterates itself with respect to each of the fundamental philosophical questions concerning ââ¬Å"deepâ⬠topics like truth, knowledge, reality, God, free will, morality, consciousness, and so on. My own particular path has lead me from questions like, ââ¬Å"what is the relationship of the mind to the body?â⬠toward reflection on questions like: ââ¬Å"what is the relationship of our everyday mental concepts, like ââ¬Ëbeliefââ¬â¢ and ââ¬Ëdesireââ¬â¢, to concepts coming out of the maturing psychological sciences, like ââ¬Ëtop-down processingââ¬â¢, ââ¬Ësubpersonal representationsââ¬â¢, and ââ¬Ëdeclarative vs. procedural memoryââ¬â¢?â⬠. But what is the point of engaging in su ch clarification and reflection? This brings me to the inevitable: 4. ââ¬Å"Philosophy, huh? What are you going to do with that?â⬠Great question--one that deserves its own blog post. ; Janehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00442762872262147957noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8277803170944793560.post-55064192645752927182020-05-17T09:48:00.001-07:002020-05-17T09:48:23.906-07:00How I Will Spend My Summer Vacation - 615 Words How I will Spend My Summer Vacation There is an old proverb that goes, all work and no play makes Jack a dull boy. I agree. For me, the summer vacation will provide me with a rare opportunity to take a well-deserved rest after a year of hard work. Last summer, I chose to engage in activities that would help me relax my mind and recoup not only my health but also my vitality. This summer will be no different. Towards this end, I plan to tour a number of amazing locations, read at least two interesting and/or informative books, and reflect on my accomplishments and failures so far. The relevance of visiting places or locations one has never visited before cannot be overstated. In addition to helping relax the mind, travelling also carries with it some educational value. This summer, I plan to visit two major locations. These include the Niagara Falls and the National Mall and Memorial Parks. It is important to note that I settled on these two major travel destinations after undertaking a laborious research on the key attractions on-site. The National Mall and Memorial Parks is an amazing place to visit. According to the National Park Foundation (2012), the National Mall is Americas front yard where the Washington Monument, WWII and Lincoln Memorials stand. The Shawshank Redemption representing personal power The entire plot of this film relies on how personal power is striped from the prisoners and the effect that this has on them. With out this aspect the film would have very little or no effect in displaying Andyââ¬â¢s escape. Personal power is represented through out the film in a multiple of ways including scenes such as ââ¬Å"institutionalisedâ⬠and the music scene where Andy finds the record and plays it over the P. A system. Personal power is taken by a number of ways through out the film but mostly it is by isolation and imprisonment (both metaphorical and literal). The prisoners are living in a world of multiple layers of isolations. Starting from the large enclosed recreation yard to the smaller work crews down to the cellblock, cells, and leading to solitary confinement. Each of these layers are represented both physically and visually as well as through out the spoken thoughts of Red and significant lines by Andy. Imprisonment both mentally and physically also takes the personal power of choice away from the inmates. It seems at stages the only kind of power Andy or any of the other inmates hold is the freedom of thought and hope. Andy is shown to have much more hope then the other prisoners which is displayed by his ââ¬Å"inner lightâ⬠as Red calls it. ââ¬Å"All I know for sure is that Andy Dufresne wasnââ¬â¢t much like me or anyone else I ever knew. .à . . It was a kind of inner light he carried around with him. This was spoken by Red after Andy traded tax advice with Bryon Hadley for beer for his workmates. It is Andys sense of self-worth that gives him the confidence and ability to make decisions such as these. The idea of institutionalisation is mentioned frequently by Red through out the film. This is the concept of how the prison takes away a persons ability to think independently and places them in a position of dependence on the routines and regulations of the prison. Red has the personal power to over come this feeling of institutionalisation by not following the path of Brookes after making parole. By deliberatly disobaying orders from the Warden and continueing the music (a personal choice Andy makes) he puts himself at risk but gives the prisoners a few moments of freedom inside their regulated lives. Of course he pays the price for this but he is able to hold the music in his mind and uses that personal power to over come the pain he faces whilst in solitary confinement for two months. These are only displays of personal power that are written in the script. Cinematic techniques such as colour, camera angles, contrast, juxtoposition and repetition are all used to highlight and represent different aspects of personal power. The Shawshank Redemption represents personal power extremely well through out the film in these ways and more. This all in collaboration displays this aspect of power in a clear and obvious way that is able to be understood with out in depth analays like what we have done. 2. The Shawshank Redemption in comparision with Do you have power? By Julius Babarinsa regarding the power of one. The power of one means the power that one individual has over another person, place or thing. In The Shawshank Redemption it is obvious how Andy has the individual power to not only change his circumstances but also to vastly improve the lives of the other prisoners in Shawshank prison. Andy is able to (with the power of persistence) create an entire library that allows the inmates to read and learn when they previously could not. Andy is also able to bring hope back into the lives of many of his friends in the prison such as Red. ââ¬Å"I hope Andy is down there. I hope I can make it across the border. I hope to see my friend and shake his hand. I hope the Pacific is as blue as it has been in my dreams. I hope. â⬠In Julius Babarinsaââ¬â¢s poem Do you have power? He creates a long list of people and what they have power over and concludes the poem with: ââ¬Å"We should realize that we are all citizens of this world we owe it to our children to use our powers positively to help make this world a better and friendly place So that we can create a just and compassionate societyâ⬠By doing this he not only signifies the power of one but also enforces the question of how can you, the responder; use this power to benefit the world. Both The Shawshank Redemption and this poem have clear and precise ideals on what is able to be achieved as an individual and the expectations that this puts on each person to be the best that they can be. Whether that be breaking out of prison with a rock hammer or electing the right representative in a vote. 3. Organisational power in The Shawshank Redemption The Shawshank Redemption is extremely effective in its representation of organisational power. It uses a lot of different cinematic techniques such as repetition, contrasts and costume to clearly display different organisational power through out the film. There are two main forces of organisational power in The Shawshank Redemption. The guards are one group of organised power and the other organised power is the routine. The guards and the routine are both forces made by the prison but they use their power in completely different ways. The guards are brutal, they use force to scare the prisoners to do as they are told and completely rely on threats and intimidation to keep their position. The power that they hold may be very strong at their peak but when power relies on abuse and dishonesty is can not last forever. The routine is a very different kind of organisational power. It is present in every single shot inside the prison, from things as simple as their clothing to what time they eat, sleep and use the bathroom. It is unescapable and yet seems to be irrelevant in comparison to the obvious power of the guards. The reality is, it is not physical and mental abuse of the prisoners that wears them down, is it the constant and ever strong drone of this routine that break them. If given enough time it strips away everything individual the prisoners could previously have, even up to something as personal as a name. The guardsââ¬â¢ power is obvious; it is shown in their uniforms, specifically angled shots to display height and status and the constant reminder of weaponry they have at their disposal, whether that be a fist, a gun or a baton. The routines power however is much more subtle and therefore can go unnoticed. It is shown effectively in the repetition of significant events (such as how Reds parole was being rejected and Red and Brookes leaving from the prison being exactly the same), Consistent and never changing features in lighting and colours with in the prison and also how time and age are shown. These two very different displays of organisational power are contrasting and yet both so effective through out the film. The direct choice of having more then one type of organisational power clearly displays exactly how powerful each organisation is and this adds greatly to our understanding and appreciation of the film. To answer whether or not I agree with how this type of power is displayed I hope it is clear to see I defiantly agree and I think they did a marvellous job of displaying and explaining organisational power through out the film. 4. Own text representing personal power My new home was the epitome of dank. The roof leaked, the walls thin and windows non-existent. It was there that I met Cooper. Cooper was my saviour. My brother. My best friend. He understood me in a way that I had never dreamt possible. Together, we found a light within the darkness. Every day, a new adventure beckoned. A game to be played; a secret smile to be shared. He made the slow years pass just a little bit faster, until finally, we decided to leave our murky prison and face the open air. Together, we would make it. That much was certain. The world outside the orphanages gates was harsher than either of us had anticipated, and it wasnââ¬â¢t long before we were making money the only way that we knew how. He would steal, and I would sell myself. We aspired to save enough money to rent a little place. To create that of which neither of us ever had, a home. However, that dream always seemed to be just that, a dream. Unachievable and unreachable. It was then, when our happiness seemed so shattered, that Cooper devised a plan. We would combine our talents. It was simple really; I would lure men into an ally, where he would beat them and steal their money. The first time this happened, I was unaware of the plan. The blood on his fists made my stomach turn and I screamed at him to cease. For the first, but not the last time, he scared me. Soon he became more ambitious. The plan changed. After seducing a stranger, instead of a dark street, I would allow him to lead me into his home. Cooper following quietly from behind, and while I distracted the man of the house, he would rob him of his every possession. In this way, the money that we needed to rebuild our lives was quickly collected. I told him that I would get a job in the market place to help; that I wanted to do this right. He disagreed and insisted that we continue, just one more job. And then another. And another. Cooper would not see sense. He began to muffle my complaints with his fists. I was scared but I knew nothing else. He was my everything. Without him, I could not exist. Eventually, the inevitable occurred. His anger overpowered his rational thought and a man lost his life beneath Coopers thrashing fists. How could I love a murderer? My brother. My best friend. Where did that boy go? The light that he once sparked within me had disappeared, and I knew that I must leave him. The following night I fled beneath a cloak of darkness. Miserable and lonely, I searched the streets for a familiar face; instead I found a familiar place. A whorehouse. My training had served me well, and I was accepted into one of the most highly respected brothels in town, the bell and whistle. This particular bordello served a higher class of customers then those with whom I had previously associated myself. We entertained societyââ¬â¢s elite, royals, noblemen, high ranked officials, and, as you are aware, members of the church. These parts of the building are physically inspected but limited to the scope of services offered by the building surveyor. Major defects survey is also referred to as main elements survey. For this type of survey, focus is on the main parts of the structure. Inspection and report concentrate on selected areas like roofs, floors, ceilings and windows. The home buyer report survey is standardized, covering main aspects of the structure but not detailed. It is restricted only to accessible parts of the structure. Specific survey narrows down the scope of survey to particular parts of a property depending on the ownerââ¬â¢s knowledge (Douglas, and Noy, 2011 P.8). In most cases, building survey is advocated for buildings that lack documentation or they cannot be used. However, it assists in developing reliable and an accurate document and or a verification of an existing document. This makes building survey an essential a ctivity in the planning process as well as providing detailed information for further planning activities. The methods of survey used are: field sketch, dimensioned sketch, tape and offset survey or extended baseline survey and plane table and alidade survey. The best survey is achieved through a combination of these three methods (Scotlandââ¬â¢s Rural Past, 2005, p.6). Sketches, plans and accurate geometric data together with information gathered from survey are combined and structured properly. These parameters are used to derive an actual design and planning process. The first step towards building survey is taking of measurements on site by use of conventional equipment like measuring stick or optical distance meters. Sophisticated surveying techniques like tachometry, laser scanner and photogrammetry are used (.Douglas, and Noy 2011, p.34). The next steps involve combining the measurements to produce details, sections and elevation of the property that are derived from plan. According to RICS (2007, p.30), any residential property is defined by linear measurement but not from floor area. Measurements are taken from a point not greater than 1.5 meters above the floor and skirting board. Recesses, bays and the like are excluded in the measurements taken. The room area should include kitchen units, cupboards and the like although it must be identified separately. When taking garage measurements, the span between main walls faces internally are of importance. Risk Assessment Some of the factors to consider in risk assessment are: Critical areas of concern in relation to residential property. Considerations from building codes and seismic zones. How to get information in relation to resources, skills and ability to investigate what you are not familiar with. Commitment to the task of checking and confirming details in the design. From the plan, elevations and sections developed from survey, the form, dimensions, orientation, natural lighting, ventilation an d spatial organizations of occupants assist in redesigning a new property. Issues required in designing of a house and their relevance as well as recommendations is considered. This is what is called risk assessment that aims at construction of safer homes. The main risks for property are; fire, harsh environment, floods, cyclones and earthquakes. The main services are drainage, gas, electricity and water. P. Morgan stood for the banking industry, the oil industry could not be spoken about without mentioning John D. Rockefeller, iron and steel industries were synonymous with Andrew Carnegieââ¬â¢s name, and lastly, as we all know, Harriman was the man who stood for the railroads (Klein 1). In The Life and Legend of E. H. Harriman, the author of the biography, Maury Klein, offers us the first in-depth story about Harriman. The biography covers his influential times in the industry. It spans more than seventy-five years (Klein). E. H. Harrimanââ¬â¢s life has been understudied, for the most part, but he was truly influential in the growth of American economy. While Harriman was successful in bringing ââ¬Ëdeadââ¬â¢ companies back to life, James J. Hill was just as successful in the rail transportation business. Their lives changed America. As the story goes, we are put in the loop on how Harriman used to be a banker in Wall Street up to his 50th birthday (Klein, 65). Af ter that, he got into the railroad business in the year 1897. That is the time he took control of the then Union Pacific Rail Road. The company was emerging from a period of bankruptcy. Harriman is credited with the success of modernizing each and every aspect of the companyââ¬â¢s operations. Harriman provides us with new insights into the controversies and the myths that surround the career of one of Americanââ¬â¢s greatest businessmen. Moreover, the book goes on to reassert the position held by this great mind as a true business titan of the turn-of-the-century. James J. Hill: Empire Builder of the Northwest is a biography of a legendary capitalist, James Hill, to whom great changes were credited in the Northwest. The author of the book, Michael P. Malone, is a gifted historian. He is also a respected writer. This is well, evident, in the manner in which he has carefully penned the remarkable life and times of one James J. Hill. In focus, Michael Maloneââ¬â¢s biography on James J. Hill is selective. Additionally, it is interpretive in the method it has used. Nonetheless, all these angles at this biography are just like all the other books on the same topic series. However, Michael Malone avoids the pitfalls of other biographies that came before this one. The other biographies often present hagiographic pictures or business histories that are very slim in content. This is not the case with this biography penned by Michael Malone. James Hill is put fully into the context of the times he lived and did business and put his mark on American business history. Worthy of note is the fact that the author, Michael Malone has put emphasis on the effect James Hillââ¬â¢s actions had on America; more specifically, the regions in which he lived and did business.à Janehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00442762872262147957noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8277803170944793560.post-25840548115818606832020-01-31T15:11:00.001-08:002020-01-31T15:11:03.356-08:00Gender and Sex Worksheet Essay Example for Free Gender and Sex Worksheet Essay What is gender? It is difficult enough for a man to face what is making him angry even under normal circumstances. Hamlet's circumstances are certainly not normal. à à à à à à à à à à Hamlet's dilemma, whether or not he should kill the king, is compounded by three things. He is extremely angry and hurt over the murder of his father. He cannot express that anger to others because in his position it would be political suicide. Finally, human nature demands that he express that anger somehow. Thus Hamlet faces a double-edged sword, he must express his anger somehow and that will lead to his downfall. à à à à à à à à à à Hamlet (correctly) blames his uncle, Claudius, for the death of his father. Further compounding the issue is the fact that Claudius is now the King of Denmark and is married to Hamlet's mother, Gertrude. Hamlet feels robbed of his both his father and his birthright. There is no doubt that Claudius is responsible for the crime, the next course of action would, of course, be to kill him. à à à à à à à à à à But it is not that simple.à Gertrude seems quite happy in her life with her new husband. Although Hamlet is infuriated with her as well for marrying Claudius so soon after her husband's death, he still loves her and does not wish any harm to come to her. Furthermore, if Hamlet were to kill Claudius, especially at this point, the people of Denmark would no doubt suspect the truth. This would only anger Hamlet even more since he feels that he would get caught for his 'justifiable homicide' and Claudius did not get caught for his crime. All Hamlet can do is keep quiet, and that only makes him even more frustrated. à à à à à à à à à à However, Hamlet cannot continue to hold his strong feelings inside for very long. Like shaking a bottle of soda, the pressure builds and builds until, eventually, the bottle will explode. Hamlet begins exploding with his passive-aggressive behavior towards the king and queen. He puts on a play that almost exactly displays the crime of which Claudius is guilty right before his eyes. However, even knowing beyond any doubt now that Claudius is guilty, Hamlet still cannot bring himself to kill him. The bottle does not explode completely until the duel at the climax of the play. Parental involvement in their children educational activities at early stages involves both creating an enabling environment at home that foster academic attainment and direct involvement in literal skills (Gillian and Bernadette 2006). This is in a view that pupils have two categories of teachers: parents and teachers at school. Generally, research show that there is an increased parental involvement in their childrenââ¬â¢s education at early stages of about 92 percent, with women showing more commitment as compared to men (Maxwell and Johnson 2002). However, the outstanding question remains to be how parental involvement is done best to facilitate children achievement. In response to this question, Moore and Wade (2000) states that parents as prime educators of a child have a significant influence on the childrenââ¬â¢s learning in schools and beyond schooling to social, economical mindset and cognitive development. The parent involvement at school level includes assisting children during lunch times and providing necessary study materials for their children such as chats. While at home parents get involved in their childrenââ¬â¢s educational activities by teaching their children nursery rhymes or/and songs, reading together, narrating poems or stories together and assist with assignments or homework. This learning activities to a great extend do help the children attain literacy skills, discipline due to association and modeling from parents, socialization benefits and the boost in their cognitive abilities especially memory (Moore and Wade 2000). The body of research available indicates that parental involvement in their children learning activities influences their learning positively. The areas that are greatly affected positively are outstanding: overall academic performance, cognitive competence; fewer indiscipline problems due to low delinquency level and discipline maintenance by parents; problem solving-skills resulting from parental guidance in problem solving skills; and fewer cases of absenteeism due to greater school enjoyment (Gillian and Bernadette 2006). Research conducted by Sammons et al. (2001), found out that the learning activities that the parents engage in with their children at home have a positive impact on the childrenââ¬â¢s social and cognitive or intellectual development as a result of child-parent attachment (Sammons et al. 2001). Therefore, this finding implies that what parents do to their children in terms of their learning whether formal or informal is better than what they are to their children. Hence, it is inherent that parental income, educational background or parental occupation does not precede their contribution to their children intellectual development. Similarly, research on childrenââ¬â¢s literal skills in relation to their parent involvement in their education activities overwhelmingly supports positive influence (Porsche, Jordan and Snow 2000). Child-parent involvement in reading activities at home has impact on two dimensions about language aspects. First, the impact on learning activities usually includes attainment of language expressive skills, achievement in reading tasks and language comprehension (Moore and Wade 2000). Second dimension, involves cultivation and facilitation of the childââ¬â¢s attentiveness in reading lessons or sessions, reading interest and a positive attitude for reading (Gillian and Bernadette 2006). These two achievable dimensions through child-parent involvement create an incentive for reading skills and the necessary mechanisms that help support the incentive for reading. Parental involvement in their children academic activities is linked to the childââ¬â¢s benefit in terms of formal literacy learning. The leading child-parent academic activity like reading is an important determinant of childââ¬â¢s emergent literacy and language attainment. Moreover, the children introduced to books by their parents early ages they usually have a good head start and an overall advantage over their counterparts in primary (Porsche, Jordan and Snow 2000; Moore and Wade 2000). More empathically, the research shows the more the children and their parent are involved in literacy skills like speaking, reading, writing of language and numbers, and listening; the more long-lasting effect of retention to the child. Furthermore, parental influence is strongest in the reading subject to young pupils as compared to other subject as children demonstrate they can imitate their parentââ¬â¢s voices and pronunciations while reading (Moore and Wade 2000). Therefore, it should be seen that this strong reading influence is important in the sense that reading skill is basic to all subjects successful understanding and learning. Additionally, the parental influence demonstrated through their interest in their childrenââ¬â¢s education has a positive influence for teenage age of 16 (Gillian and Bernadette 2006). Findings by Sammons et al. (2001) reveals that parental involvement in their childrenââ¬â¢s learning environment and support go beyond educational and literacy attainment. This finding demonstrate that children that and good intimacy, attachment and interaction with their parents exhibited greater emotional and social development especially in a nuclear family set up. Most of the areas of emotional and social development are life satisfaction, self-control and self-direction, good mental health, resilience to stress, stable and positive relationships resulting to stable marriages and social adjustment is excellent. Conclusion In conclusion, this paper indicate that parents involvement in their childrenââ¬â¢s education activities has positive influence on the childrenââ¬â¢s educational outcomes; the view widely supported by research. The major dimension that child-parent interaction in educational activities are: academic performance, cognitive competence, fewer indiscipline problems, problem solving-skills, and fewer cases of absenteeism. Moreover, the strongest and important influence is the long-lasting reading skill that is crucial excelling in other subject areas. Therefore, parents ought to encourage continuing their involvement in their childrenââ¬â¢s learning. Discuss in relation to at least two approaches to normative ethics. Humans are superior, non-human animals are inferior. Animals were put here as the playthings of humans, for us to do with what we want. We are able to farm them and control them, we can change their genetics and what they look like, animals have no minds of their own. We eat them, race them and catch them for sport. We even refer to undesirable human behavior as animal. In this world you either harm or you are harmed. God gave humans the ability to harm, so we do. Animals are here for us to exploit. Maiming and injuring an animal is no different to eating it. This is a veryâ⬠¦show more contentâ⬠¦Also, despite conceding that humans are animals too, when I refer to animals in future they will be the non-human variety unless expressly stated. The first important question to answer is: how do we conclude that animals dont have rights? In a sense, once the human has control of an animal, which is relatively easy, given that the human is a more sophisticated being (if only intellectually), the animal has no rights and is at the mercy of the human, the only thing to stop the human treating the animal cruelly is a sense of duty to the animal not to harm it. From a consequentialist point of the view the animal is entitled to moral consideration because of its ability to feel pleasure and pain. I agree with this. Negative utilitarianism (WHO) highlights that the action must promote pain prevention. Because the animal feels pain the human must therefore act in a way as not to harm the animal. Despite this, I do agree with the idea that the animal has no rights. According to Hobesian contractarianism, this is because it is not able to enter a moral community. If it has no moral duties to others, then others have no moral duty to it. I believe that an animal cannot have rights in the same way as a human does but I think that most animals do adhere to a sort of instinctive compassion similar to Rousseaus noble savage. In other words, the ground state represents the most stable configuration. If there is more than one possible ground state, degenerate states are said to exist. Even though the species may possess some level of energy, the ground state is considered to have zero-point energy in comparison to other states. If a species has energy greater than the ground state, it is said to be in an excited state. Electrons provide a good example of ground and excited states. If an electron absorbs energy, it may jump to an excited state. At some point, the electron will return to the ground state, typically giving off a photon in the process. The Themes of Love in Shakespeares Sonnets and Other Poetry Love poetry has been written for many centuries. The ideas expressed by Shakespeare and Browning are still relevant today. Love is not a tangible thing; it is an emotion so it can be perceived in many different ways. Shakespeare has infamously used sonnets to express his ideas on love. Shall I compare theeà ¢Ã¢â ¬Ã ¦? is a sonnet in which Shakespeare focuses on immortalisation through words. A sub theme of everlasting is also expressed in this sonnet love alters not with breefe houres and weekes. All three of the poems attempt to defy time through love, although they do this in very different ways. Shakespeare is almost trying to teach a lesson to the society of that time, a lesson that is still relevant today. Due to the lesson being on love and marriage it adds to the religious element within this poem. Also due to the large volume of hyperbolic language, it seems as though Shakespeare is religiously preaching to us. For example loveà ¢Ã¢â ¬Ã ¦. Beares it out even to the edge of doom. The religious aspect of avoiding divorce is shown here. The religious tone in this poem differentiates it very much from the other two poems. As the tone in Shall I compare theeà ¢Ã¢â ¬Ã ¦? These ââ¬Å"white-skinnedââ¬â¢ people were in fact convicts who was shipped to do hard laborious work for their committed crime. Life before Europeans had settled in Australia was a very different place. There was either clear land and/or lots of bush. This was probably why Arthur Phillip presumed the land could be theirs because no-one held sovereign right. But the Indigenous people were living there. S. Demetrio Rodriguez began his fight for reform in 1969 as the chief plaintiff in a suit against the Edgewood Independent School District in San Antonio, Texas. In that year, he and a group of parents filed suit to protest the lack of funding for the schools their children attended. Appealing the decision in favor of the district, they took their case to the U. S. Supreme Court in 1973. The case became a rallying point for school reform across the country. In the ears following the filing of the suit, their battle cry is a simple one: the inequalities in funding between public school systems must be eliminated if quality education for all is to be guaranteed. Lawsuits filed throughout the U. S. are meeting with a margin of success as they try to advance the cause of equal funding for education. Charging that states fail to provide a school system that offers proper instruction, the suits are forcing state governments to reconsider public school funding. While Ohio faces a complete overhaul of the school funding system, other states face the challenge of apital funding for the construction of new schools. The most visible element of the issue, have become the focus of many court battles, most notably that of Arizona. Demetrio Rodriguez sits in his San Antonio, Texas, nome surrounded by memories. Certificates and photos chart the 25 years Rodriguez has spent fighting the cause of school finance reform. From state capitols to popular talk shows, he has become a strong voice behind the movement to improve the nations schools. Rodriguez began his fght for reform in 1969 as the chief plaintiff in a suit against the Edgewood Independent School District in San Antonio. In that year, he and a group of parents filed suit to protest the lack of funding for the schools their children attended. Appealing the decision in favor of the district, they took their case to the U. S. Supreme Court in 1973. In San Antonio Independent School District v. Rodriguez, 411 U. S. 1 (1973), the court ruled in a 5-4 decision that education was not a fundamental right under the federal constitution and that students did not have the right to attend schools funded on the same level as a nearby wealthier district. The case became a rallying point for school reform across the country. In the years following Rodriguez, parents and advocates have filed suit in over 30 states. Their battle cry is a simple one: The inequalities in funding between public school systems must be eliminated if quality education for all is to be guaranteed. Gains have been made. Litigation in Rodriguezs home state of Texas prompted the creation of Robin Hood laws that reallocate funding from higher to lower income school districts. But change is hard to notice at the Edgewood school located across the street from Rodriguezs home. The kids who attend school in my district still have classrooms in portable uildings, he said. Many times teachers are forced to buy crayons and other supplies out of their own pockets. Rodriguez added that while conditions have changed, great disparities still exist. These kids have an improved opportunity to get a proper education, but we have a long way to go. Currently in the state of Texas a $20,000 gap exists in the amount of funding per classroom between the richest and poorest school districts. The Robin Hood laws, which have helped create some gains, are now threatened with elimination by a tax bill being considered in the state legislature. Indeed, Rodriguez, now a grandfather, still has a long way to go in his fght for change. l have great hopes for my grandchildren, he said. But we are still going to have to come up with solutions for these issues if we want to ensure their future. The fght to ensure such a future is gaining support from distinct sectors of American society. From Arizona to New Jersey, groups including attorneys, business representatives and teachers are Joining forces. Like Rodriguez, many are turning to the state courts in an effort create change in their communities. Decisions for Change Lawsuits filed throughout the United States are meeting with a margin of success as they try to advance the cause of equal funding for education. Charging that states fail to provide a school system that offers proper instruction, the suits are forcing state governments to reconsider public school funding. In Abbott v. Burke, M-622-96, the New Jersey Supreme Court decided in May that the legislature must close existing gaps between the poorest and richest school districts in the state by September of this year. The 5 to 1 decision is a final win for a court battle that began in 1985. David Sciarra, attorney for the plaintiffs, said the suit challenged existing legislation that leaves a 000 per pupil gap in tunding. Not only do the current laws not eliminate the gap, but they actually allow it to grow in future budgets, he said. Under the present regulation, the urban districts will only be given funding to maintain a foundation level while suburban districts will be allowed to grow. The disparities will actually remain and widen, he continued. The decision ordered New Jersey to provide funding for future growth over foundation levels. In addition, it andated that poor districts be provided funding for supplemental programs. Supplemental programs, according to Sciarra, will help bring students up to the levels of their counterparts in wealthier districts. We are not satisfied with a 10 percent gap, he commented. We want to get funding to a point where schools are comparable in terms of programs and facilities available. While New Jersey attempts to close the final gap, other states continue to follow their lead. In a similar decision, the Supreme Court of Ohio ruled in March of this year that the current system of state funding was unconstitutional. The 4-3 decision in DeRolph v. State of Ohio, 78 Ohio State 3d 193, stated that the system violated the state constitution by not providing a thorough and efficient system of common schools. It overruled a previous 1979 decision that ruled that the funding system was constitutional. According to the majority opinion, the allocation formula and other school funding factors have caused or permitted vast wealth disparities among schools, depriving students in 500 public school districts of high quality educational opportunities. Nicholas Pittner, chief counsel for the plaintiff, noted the circumstances surrounding he case had a great impact on the decision. Some of these schools are extremely dark and dangerous, he said. The inadequacies reached such an extent that they were impressive enough to sway the decision of the court. The court ruled that the state has a year to come up with a new system to fund the education of Ohios 1. 8 million students. The remedy for the now unconstitutional system rests with a committee consisting of the governor, members of the state legislature, the state superintendent of public instruction and the budget director. Experts in the case say they expect some form of action on the issue this fall. Rick Dickinson, general counsel for the Ohio School Boards Association, said over reliance on property taxes was cited by the court as a contributing factor to the failure of the system. Local property taxes could be part of the new funding system, but not the total source of revenue, he explained. While Ohio faces a complete overhaul of the school funding system, other states face the challenge of capital funding for the construction of new schools. The most visible element of the issue, old and poorly maintained buildings, have become the focus of many court battles, most notably that of Arizona. After three years of litigation, the state faces its fourth suit in a search to fund the replacement of aging school buildings. Still lacking basic facilities, many schools in Arizonas poor districts require major renovations to bring them up to code. A 1994 decision from the Arizona Supreme Court ruled the states funding formula unconstitutional. In Roosevelt v Bishop, 877 P. d 806 (1994), the court ruled the state funding formula unconstitutional and mandated that the state government come up with a new formula. Later decisions gave the state a deadline of the summer of 1998 to resolve the issue. Plaintiffs say $1 billion will be needed. The legislature has offered $370 million over the next 10 years and $32 million in perpetuity to poor school districts. Fite Symington nas as ed k the courts to rule the otter sufficient to resolve t he issue. Opponents contend the amount will not begin to keep up with growth in the states schools. Tim Hogan, attorney representing 72 school districts named as plaintiffs, said the offer does not come close to complying with the decision. Thirty million dollars builds about 4 schools a year in Arizona, he explained. The offer is being contested because it still has a heavy reliance on roperty tax and only adds funding to bottom end schools. Hogan said if the state government fails to distribute money to the schools by the deadline of next summer, kids will be the big losers. What is disappointing to me is that our willingness to cooperate in this effort has not led to complete reform, he added. While Hogan hopes the court turns down the request for approval, representatives from the governors office say the current offer satisfies the courts decision. C. Diane Bishop, former Arizona superintendent of public instruction and now an adviser to Symington, said the current offer combined with a cap on spending for high wealth districts will bring disparities down toa satisfactory level. Equality was not an issue in the decision, she added. A solution where some disparities still exists is acceptable according to the ruling. As the State of Arizona hammers out the resolution to its school finance problem, the rest of the nation looks on with both fear and excitement. The uncharted territory of school finance reform causes activists and bureaucrats alike to shudder as they attempt to redesign systems that have been in lace for decades. And as many find out, victory in the courts is followed by the lengthy and sometimes defeating process of policy-making. Solutions for Today At the center of such policy-making lies the inescapable definition of standards. At what level do states have to fund education to make it efficient? How are such levels determined? John Augenblick, a Denver consultant who has worked in school finance system reform for the past 20 years, said the standards that work the best focus on the needs of students instead of the amount of money available to fund education. Foundation levels are typically politically determined based on funding available, he continued. States need to develop target levels with more information than available revenue. Augenblick said more states are setting objectives for education rather than setting goals based on resources available. We see states setting objectives and creating measurement systems to see if goals are being met, he said. Then funding is sought based on meeting those goals. Sighting recent school reform legislation in Mississippi, Augenblick said that states success lies in the trategy pursued in defining standards. Mississippis goal was to have all school districts accredited at the highest levels based on a series of outcomes, Augenbli ck continued. The funding spent on students in districts that were achieving these levels were then used in developing the standards for the rest of the state. He said while there is much work left to be done, the future of school financing does hold promise. There has been improvement and states are now building systems that are standing up in the courts, Augenblick added. One of the states he said provides the ost secure example of school finance reform is Kentucky. In Council for Better Education v. collins, NO. 85-Cl-1759, slip op. at 11 (Franklin cty. Ct. , KY. May 31, 1988), the Kentucky Supreme Court not only ruled the school funding system unconstitutional, but went on to declare the entire state school system unconstitutional. Chiet Justice Robert Stevens, who wrote the majority opinion in the case, said the evidence compelled the court to go beyond the funding issue. Although the original lawsuit dealt only with financial inequity, it became obvious that the whole system needed reform, he said. Indeed, the evidence was compelling. At the time of the case, Kentucky ranked 50th in the nation in adult literacy and high school completion, 49th in the number of four-year college graduates and 48th in spending on elementary education. In 1990 the state passed the Kentucky Education Reform Act (KERA). Since then the state has completely revamped its methods of instruction. The results hold promise. Teachers salaries have increased 28 percent statewide. According to state records, student performance in reading, writing, mathematics, science and social studies increased 9 percent between 1992 and 1994. It is going to take more than eight or nine years to undo what it took 100 years to build, Justice Stevens added. But the system is a great deal better than it was. Kentucky legislators said the 22 percent increase in taxes necessary to pay for KERA was accepted by Kentuckians because of the seriousness of the disparities. Michael Maloney, a former Kentucky legislator involved in KERA, said while there was some objection to the bill when it was being considered, the majority of the state viewed it as necessary. No legislator who voted or the tax increase was defeated on that issue in the next election, he said. As lon g as the voters knew that the money was going to public education, they were for it. Jack Moreland, former superintendent of the Dayton Kentucky Independent School District, said the state now has a clear sense of where the education system will be heading. We have a defined twenty-year road map which sets precise goals and lays out how the goals will be reached, he explained. Those familiar with KERA caution that the full impact will not be felt until an entire group of students start and finish nder the program. But if the initial information is any indication, the states reform package is achieving change other states may grow to envy. While the Kentucky solution shows the possibilities of education finance reform, the current situation in states like Colorado shows Just how far finance reform has yet to go. Rapid growth in the state has brought over 100,000 new students into Colorado, while a lack of increased funding has caused per-pupil expenditures to drop. Colorado Bill H. C. R. 1004 makes it difficult to increase funding in the states school districts. A cap rohibits the legislature from raising spending more than six percent annually. This makes it impossible for schools to keep up with the growth in enrollment and inflation. Phil Fox, associate director of the Colorado Association of School Executives, said the current situation will drive the quality of education down in a time when the economy is flourishing. We are choking on our own success, he continued. The growth is going to make schools increasingly dependent on the state for funding at a time when the legislature is limiting what they can do for students. As the state egislature struggles to find a solution, few see one on the horizon. A proposal to end school reliance on property taxes failed to win approval from the legislature in the first session of 1997. Activists point out that certain language in the state constitution make successful litigation in Colorado difficult. Fox said Colorado might take years to resolve the finance problem in their state. School reform has never been for the short winded, he added. If Foxs analogy is correct, many states are coming up for air The Illinois Legislature killed Senate Bill 645, which would nave decreased a eliance on property taxes for public school funding and set up a system to equalize school funding through other tax sources. Indeed, the road to reaching school funding solutions is a long process. For Rodriguez, the process brings frustration. l get angry when I think that our country can spend billions in aid on other nations while our kids receive low quality education, he said. The next generation will suffer if we fail to take action today, Janehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00442762872262147957noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8277803170944793560.post-48412266537773415892019-11-28T15:20:00.001-08:002019-11-28T15:20:04.545-08:00Social Classes in the Philippines Essay Sample free essay sample Maginoo ââ¬â This comprises of the aristocracy of the early caste system. which largely refers to the governing category of Datus. The perfect dress, the perfect flowers, and the perfect man is what they see their wedding day consisting of. The wedding is the beginning of marriage, and there are certain things that I would like from my dream man so that we can have a ââ¬Å"perfectâ⬠marriage. A marriage, to me, is a relationship between two equal beings who want to spend their rest of their lives together. I believe that both of us should be treated equal in the relationship, and the power is split between us. . I believe it is important to have a marriage contract between my future husband and I because I would like to see if we believe in the same things. Do we see eye to eye or close to on how we want the household run or do we want children? As we get older, weââ¬â¢ll probably need to redo the contract to fit our changing lifestyle. Weââ¬â¢ll probably need one for how we want to raise our children and how the household duties will be run when we have children running around. Another time we may need to revise it is if we get to busy for each other. I would like to still have a marriage when I have children. I see how some people forget about their spouses because they get so involved with work and children. There may be other times when we need to revise this marriage contract because our lives may change with children, a possible loss of a job, or anything thatââ¬â¢s life altering which will cause a need to fix it. At this point in my life my marriage contract will state that I would like for us both to have solid jobs. I think itââ¬â¢s important to both have jobs so that neither of us is supporting each other. Itââ¬â¢s possible when we have children this feeling may alter to work best for our lifestyle. For the time being though, I donââ¬â¢t want to be taking care of my husband, nor do I want him to take care of me. Since I would like to be a teacher, I shouldnââ¬â¢t have too many issues with my job being too demanding. If his job is more demanding than Iââ¬â¢ like, I would want him to make up for it on his days off. If he had to travel a whole bunch I donââ¬â¢t know if I could continue the marriage, unless it was only for a short period of time. So that would have to be discussed if it ever came about. If his job caused him to move, I would agree to move with him after my school year was done. I onââ¬â¢t have a problem with moving around a lot if his job is pays well, because I would be willing to volunteer around the community rather than working a full time job. I want to be a part of something outside my marriage whether itââ¬â¢s job or volunteering. When it comes to friends, I think itââ¬â¢s very important to have friends who are couples. I grew up where my parents would always hang out with other couples and it really worked out nicely for them. They would go on two or three vacations a year with each other and if both of their families couldnââ¬â¢t make it for holidays we would all spend it together. I would want that for my marriage, so that I donââ¬â¢t feel like we canââ¬â¢t go out together with groups. I would also like to have to opportunity to have our friends over to our place. If we decide to go out separately, as a girls or guys night out, I would expect a text here and there about whatââ¬â¢s going on and who theyââ¬â¢re with. It would also depend on where the trust level is in the relationship, because that may change how one of us feels about the other going out. Another problem, if there is trust issues, is if we have friends of the opposite sex. I tend to have friends that are guys, so I would have to be okay with him having girls for friends. However, our best opposite sex friend should be each other. I once had a counselor who told my boyfriend and I that itââ¬â¢s okay to have friends of the opposite sex but they can never be your best friend because it never works out unless you marry your best friend. All in all, I want us to have friends outside of each other, because I feel that is a very important factor in maintain a healthy relationship. Religion is a huge part of my life, and I would like for my husband to be on the same page as me. I have no religion except for the belief in Agnosticism, but I love visiting new churches and speaking with members so I can understand more. One day, I would like to settle on some belief, possibly when children come into the picture, but I want to have similar beliefs. I was raised Christian, so I would like to think that one day Iââ¬â¢ll go back to that train of thought, so I would like him to possibly know Christianity. I want us both to be open minded when it comes to religion, and I do not want a man who pushes his religion on me. When we have down time, such as the weekend, I would like us to have some things we do together and some we do separate. I think itââ¬â¢s important to have our own identity where we have different interest, but I also think itââ¬â¢s important to have things we enjoy doing together. As for vacations, I donââ¬â¢t believe they should be taken without each other, unless itââ¬â¢s to see our family. I believe vacations are meant for single people or families, and if you looking to enjoy yourself, you can do so with your spouse. If both of us are working, I think we should have separate accounts and one shared account. Every pay check we put a set amount in our own account that we get to spend on whatever weââ¬â¢d like. Then we put the rest of our pay check into a shared account and with that money we pay our bills. Any extra money in that account is only usable if we both agree on what itââ¬â¢s being spent on. With this set up we have our own money and we both contribute to paying for our expenses. No one can get mad about unnecessary spending, such as video games or brunch with the girls. As for credit cards, we have separate ones that we pay for out of our own account. If one of us needs to borrow money Iââ¬â¢d be more than willing to help them, unless they were out of control with their own spending. I donââ¬â¢t want to deal with someone who isnââ¬â¢t finically stable or at least knows how to control their spending. Household chores arenââ¬â¢t very important to me. I donââ¬â¢t mind cleaning and I donââ¬â¢t mind picking up after someone else. The only time it would play a major role is when I cleaning for something or someone and I want to clean very well. I would expect help around the house if someone was coming to visit or if we were having a party, but even then I wouldnââ¬â¢t care if I did most of the work. Iââ¬â¢m not concerned when it comes to household responsibilities, so Iââ¬â¢d be willing to take that responsibility on. I want to find someone who wants to start having kids before the age of thirty-five. I donââ¬â¢t really have a preference at this point in time on how many kids I want, but I would like to find someone open-minded and not set on what they want. As long as my partner is willing to negotiate about how many children we want and when they want them I will be willing to find a medium with him. When raising our children I would like to maintain a more authoritative parenting style. I would like my husband to have the same style or close to. I do not want a man who cannot connect with his children, and I also do not want a man who wants to be his childââ¬â¢s friend. I feel like there needs to be a middle ground. I also donââ¬â¢t want my kids to think Iââ¬â¢m the push over or think Iââ¬â¢m the bad cop compared to their dad. I want them to see us as an equal parent because I think itââ¬â¢s important to raise a strong family. I love moving and traveling so I wouldnââ¬â¢t mind moving around a whole bunch the only objection I would have is I couldnââ¬â¢t live in a small town. A small suburb would be fine, but no country towns. If we didnââ¬â¢t move a lot I would want a house or a large apartment. I want animals so a place for them to run around is important to me. Ideally I would like to live somewhere in Europe or Canada, but if thatââ¬â¢s not an option living anywhere cold is what I want the most. I also donââ¬â¢t want to find ourselves ever moving in with other family members, because I feel like you need to make it on your own. Iââ¬â¢m not too particular on the living arrangements as long as we can agree that living in the heat is not an option unless we move a lot. My husband is my husband and I am his wife. We do not share each other with other people and I have no desire to explore other options. So if thatââ¬â¢s what he wants than I would have to end things. I think also if that itââ¬â¢s something he believes in but would be willing to change I would still end things because it shows he doesnââ¬â¢t respect the monogamy of marriage and would easily slip up. Anything outside of monogamy is just not an option for me. If an abortion was necessary or unnecessary I would want my husband to be okay with it like I am. If he did what I wanted I would feel fully responsible for taking a childââ¬â¢s life. If he was against it I would feel pressured to give birth to a child I wasnââ¬â¢t ready for. There are just too many different situations that could occur that I would want my husband to feel open to the idea of abortion if it was needed. I could never be with someone who didnââ¬â¢t want pets or at least allow me to have pets. I donââ¬â¢t want a zoo but I donââ¬â¢t want to feel like I canââ¬â¢t own a pet if I want one. I have a dog currently who is an inside dog and if my husband wasnââ¬â¢t okay with that, I wouldnââ¬â¢t be okay with him. Animals are a huge part of my life and I wouldnââ¬â¢t be with someone without them. When it comes to in-laws, I donââ¬â¢t want to live with them and I donââ¬â¢t want them to live with me. I feel like it causes too much stress on the relationship which will lead to problems in the relationship. I also donââ¬â¢t think itââ¬â¢s healthy for the relationship between parent and child. So unless itââ¬â¢s necessary that they move in then itââ¬â¢s not an option for me. If I was put on life support I would want to be let go because of the financial struggle to will cause my husband and the pain it will cause us both to suffer. If he was put on life support I would ask what he wants before it happens and try to follow his wishes. I canââ¬â¢t say Iââ¬â¢ll be strong enough to let him go because Iââ¬â¢ve never been through it, but I would hope I can be strong enough for him. On thing that is very important to me is traveling. Traveling is something Iââ¬â¢ve always wanted to do and I want to find someone with that same passion. If they had no interest in it or didnââ¬â¢t have to the funds I donââ¬â¢t know if I could make things work because I think itââ¬â¢s import to find someone who shares your dreams. If they donââ¬â¢t share dreams with you, you may grow to resent them. I want to enjoy my life traveling and exploring with my husband so we can grown together. These are most if not all the things I would like to be present in my marriage, and I hope to find someone who is on the same page as me. If they donââ¬â¢t agree on most if not all Iââ¬â¢ll have to make the decision between changing my views or possibly finding someone else who meets more to my needs. Finding someone you care about and someone who agrees on your points of view is important to marriage. The study later provides a description of the IS/LM model in section 3 and finally, an explanation of the crowding out effect using the IS/LM model. The last part of the paper will relate the crowding out effect to the real world particularly the UK as the Bank of England uses it as a fiscal policy tool. Fiscal policy refers to a situation whereby the government restores equilibrium in the economy by making changes to taxes or government expenditure on public goods and services (Smullen and Hand, 2005). When there is under-utilisation of capacity, the government can increase capacity utilisation by reducing taxes (that is through a reduction in tax rates or tax base) or by increasing spending on public goods and services as well as subsidising the production of certain goods and services (Smullen and Hand, 2005; Visser, 2004) Fiscal policy aimed at increasing money supply is referred to as easy fiscal policy (Smullen and Hand 2005). On the other hand, when there is over-utilisation of capacity, the government either increases taxes (through and increase in tax rates or tax bases) or reduces spending on public goods and services (Black 2002). It also reduces subsidies and transfer payments. This type of fiscal policy is referred to as tight fiscal policy (Black 2002). Monetary policy is referred to as a means by which the central bank tries to sway the economy to equilibrium by influencing the supply of money (Black 2002). This is achieved through four main approaches, which include: printing more money; direct controls over money held by the money sector; open market operations and influencing the interest rate. Both tight and easy monetary policies can also be identified. Like easy fiscal policy, easy monetary policy is one whereby the central bank embarks on a policy to increase the supply of money. Work In 1783, she helped her sister Eliza escape from an abusive marriage. Together they established a school at Newington Green where she acted as a schoolteacher and a headmistress. It was at this time that she began her literary work and wrote the book ââ¬Å"Thought on Education of Daughters: With reflection on Female Conduct, In the More important Duties of Lifeâ⬠. In 1787, she was appointed the governess of the Kingsborough household. She was dismissed, since she had discrepancies with the Lady of Kingsborough, but the children liked her. This experience inspired her to write the book Original Stories from Real life. After her dismissal she moved to London to focus more on her career as an author. She was unhappy with the limited employment opportunities that were there for poor yet dignified women. In London, she learnt German and French, which helped her in tra nslating texts. She also wrote book reviews in the periodical Analytical Reviews. These experiences opened a wide field of intellectual material to her. It gave her a chance to interact with great philosophers, such as William Godwin, and political radicals, such as Thomas Paine (Taylor, 2003). Private life When in London, Mary had a relationship with an artist Henry Fusseli, who was by then married. She proposed a nonsexual relationship with Henry and his wife, but his wife was dismayed by that idea. Henry had to break off relations with Wollstonecraft. After this incidence, she traveled to French to experience the atmosphere of the French revolution personally. Here, she fell in love with Gilbert Imlay; this romantic relationship culminated in her getting pregnant with her first child. Gilbert was not bent on settling down in marriage, left Wollstonecraft in France and went to London. Maryââ¬â¢s work at this time reflected her loneliness and depression of a woman caught up by a revolution, both external and internal. She followed Gilbert to London but he rejected her. She made an attempted suicide, but Gilbert rescued her. She attempted to save her relationship with Gilbert by going on a dangerous trip to win a business deal for him; unfortunately, he never took her back. She made a second suicidal attempt by jumping into the fast running river Thames but was rescued by a stranger. According to her, the attempts to commit suicide were very rational. She later got into a romantic relationship with Godwin and got expectant. She married him so that the baby would not be illegitimate. The couple moved to two separate adjoining houses in order to retain their independence and communicated through letters. Godwin wrote memoirs that vividly portrayed the negative side of Mary's character, including her attempted suicides, illegitimate children and shaky private life. Though he was writing this being in love with his wife, it actually represented Wollstonecraft i n an unfavorable light. Wollstonecraft's death In September 30 1797, Wollstonecraft delivered her second born. The placenta ruptured and became infected. Wollstonecraft was in agony for several days and finally died September 10 the same year (Taylor, 2003). Contribution to philosophy Her efforts were aimed towards fighting for the rights of women. The plot is about three children, Kyle, Jessie and baby Troy, left behind in the car by their mother, who desperately had to leave everything after the abuse she had from her husband. The current issue of domestic violence is expertly dealt with in the Epic theatre style play Hoods, This will be demonstrated throughout an analysis of narration, direct address to the audience, episodic structure, fragmentary costumes and props, multiple roles, use of costume and lighting and soundtrack. Narration, a convention of Epic theatre, is used in Hoods thereby making it a strong example of political theatre. This technique is often used by actors to describe the scene to the audience to tell them what is happening. This is used as a Alienation, or called by Bertolt Brecht as the Distancing Effect , to encourage the audience to retain their critical detachment and have them thinking about the issue, which in the Hoods is domestic violence. In the play this is seen when the father kills the cat with a plastic bag, Jesse asks for a hug from a teacher, and at the end when they tell the of the story. The two actors projected their voice in sync and acted on stage while narrating. This has made a strong distancing effect to the audience as it addressed the audience of the play without actually having them being involved in the play emotionally. Narration was used throughout the play to express a much more powerful message to the audience by having the audience remained focused on what was happening rather than feeling it. Direct address is a commonly used technique used in Epic theatre for the actor to have a direct address to the audience to prepare the audience for a scene change. Brecht has employed direct address to the audience too express the message more clearly . Betzien made the play to have scene changes as often as possible to distance the audience emotionally from the play from the sensitive subject of domestic abuse. This effect has got the audience thinking and reflect on what is happening. The actors personally address the audience what the scene is, quite often speaking in sync. They explained their ability to pause, rewind and fast forward the story. With that throughout the play, they intentionally swap scenes in a blink of an eye to get the audience to focus on the new thing that is happening. The two actors always gave a direct address to the audience to have them focus. Direct address was sufficiently used throughout the play to reflect Epic Theatre and has expressed a much more p owerful message to the audience. Brecht used episodic structure in his plays because it distanced the audience from being emotional involved with the play. He wanted his views to be seen, heard but not felt as people would not think about the message if it if the audience were emotionally drawn in. Epic theatre has since incorporated episodic structure into the style to distance the audience from being emotionally attached. In Hoods it is used to explain the story of the childrens life, the abused life they have lived and the desperation of Jesse to find affection and safety. Caceres has made the actors to have scene changes to shift the audiences attention from the emotion and have them focusing on the new scene. Most occasions the new scene change was to show the progress prior to where the children got in the car, the abuse the mother coped from the father. This gives the audience the message of the play that it is about domestic abuse Episodic Structure was sufficiently used throughout the play to reflect Epic T heatre and has expressed a much more powerful message to the audience. Throughout the play the two actors change costumes and change props whenever a new scene takes place. This is done to done to get the audience to focus on the new character and scene to follow the story. It also invoked humour in the scenes that which distanced the audience to being detached from feeling the play but listen instead. During, before or after a direct address, narration and scene change, the actors change their costumes by taking off their hood, put on a hat or hold a prop. An example of a prop used in the play is the fairy wand Jesse held. Another example is Kyles hat, whenever the actor wore it, they instantly know it is Kyle. This has an effect on the play because it makes it easier to follow because the costumes identify the character distinctively. The effect of clear character by the use of voice and only one costume/prop makes the play more stronger. This is done so the audience will focus and listen to find out who the character is. This distances the audience f rom an emotional connection with the actors so they focus on the play. The soundtrack and lighting worked together hand in hand when the action on stage tensed up. An example is the end scene when Jesse got Kyle to leave the car with her to call for help. This worked really well due to the tension building music which got the audience to listen more and involved in the issue on stage. This has made an amazing effect on the play due to the after effects of the play made the audience reflect the story and issue afterwards. This was done to build the tension on stage and provoke the audience to pay attention. The lighting with the soundtrack created an atmosphere to which grew the tension. An example is when one actor was telling the story of the cat, the lighting was dark and the music was dark ambience. This created the tension that focused the audience on the story and was made because it distanced the audience from being emotionally attached. The current issue of domestic violence is expertly dealt with in the Epic theatre style play Hoods by the use of dramatic languages: narration, direct address, episodic structure, fragmentary props and costumes and soundtrack and lightening that has given the play the strong message to the audience without them emotionally attached to it.
